What makes you feel most wildly alive? Is it a midcentury in the canyons, a vintage craftsman in the thrum of Northeast Los Angeles, a surf cabin down a forested lane? I’m a queer + trans real estate agent in Los Angeles helping California’s creatives buy and sell rare, earthy properties. I do this not just because they’re cool places to rest your head at night. But because I believe we should all live in dwellings we feel alive in. Coming of age in Northern California was not only hippie-environmentalist bootcamp, but fostered a deep love of organic design. I grew up in the cradle of the redwoods, learning early on that composting is mandatory and A-frames are cooler. After foraying to LA for my undergrad at UCLA, I took these bohemian sensibilities to the world of real estate at Sotheby’s. Our firm is known for representing architecture, dovetailing beautifully with the earthy homes I share on social to a community of 200K+ (@samarnesonhome). As friendly as I am honest, I was once described by a close friend as “a lighthouse of genuine spirit.” When working with me, you’ll enjoy having a creative, determined, and down-to-earth agent. I excel at getting buyers into escrow on special properties (cabins! midcentury! vintage!) and have been honored to list a cohort of incredibly cool houses. I’m incredibly passionate about helping queer folks buy real estate. At the risk of sounding trite, we’ve long been discouraged from these modes of building wealth. Besides the emotional rewards of living somewhere that keenly suits you, there’s few better investments, especially in LA+CA. There is no greater joy for me then handing a queer couple the keys to their first home, helping someone in our community house-hack an income property, or even buying my own (in 2025, I restored + rented a midcentury triplex in Silver Lake).
